Education
As scholars and educators, we work to amplify the ethos of jazz music in our jazz dance research, pedagogy, and practice. Through years of research inside the music, we’ve questioned the distance we observed between the music and the dance. In our efforts to close this gap, we arrived at “one jazz.” This space will act as a hub for sharing resources, including our individual and shared research and the work of our collaborators. Using our findings as examples, we hope to serve jazz dance educators looking for ways to align their pedagogy and practice with jazz music, and invite musicians working in the Black American continuum to consider rooted jazz dance as a vital part of jazz creation and conversation.
